2014 LS Polls: Kashmiris gear up to exercise their franchise

Baramulla, April 23 (ANI): As India gears up for the sixth phase of polling, preparations for the upcoming elections in Jammu and Kashmir are not far behind either. The people of the Kashmir valley are looking forward to exercising their franchise and are looking for an eligible candidate who addresses their issues and does not leave promises unfulfilled. Residents also said that there has been a failure in providing education and employment to the youth.

Non-bailable warrant issued against Giriraj over 'Pakistan' remark

Bokaro, Apr 23 (ANI): A non bailable warrant has been issued against Bharatiya Janata Party leader Giriraj Singh over his controversial 'Pakistan remark'. This comes a day after the Election Commission banned Singh from holding any public rallies or meetings and gave him time till April 24 to file a reply. The EC had banned him from holding public meetings, public processions, rallies and road shows in Bihar and Jharkhand.

Complaint against Madhusudan Mistry, sits on dharna

Vadodara, April 23 (ANI): Congress candidate in Vadodara Madhusudan Mistry has been clouded in controversies for publishing an allegedly defamatory pamphlet against BJP’s PM candidate Narendra Modi. Thereafter, police had registered a complaint under various sections of IPC. Mistry, sitting on a dharna, opposed the complaint saying that he should not be particularly targeted as the pamphlet was distributed from the party’s side in entire Gujarat. He also stated that he was sitting on a dharna to make people aware. The pamphlet accuses Modi in the context of corruption and also refers to the snooping scandal involving a young woman architect.

Arvind Kejriwal files nomination from Varanasi

Varanasi, April 23 (ANI): AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday filed his nomination papers for Lok Sabha polls. Kejriwal is contesting from the Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency against BJP’s PM candidate Narendra Modi and Congress candidate Ajay Rai. Varanasi will observe polls on May 12 in the last of the nine phase General Elections, the result of which is due on May 16.
