Rahul Gandhi addresses rally in Bhatinda, takes dig at Narendra Modi

Bhatinda, Apr 28 (ANI): Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi sought votes for party candidate from Bathinda Lok Sabha constituency Manpreet Singh Badal on the final day of campaigning of Punjab on Monday. He said at the rally that Congress is fighting in Gujarat for the rights of the Sikh farmers facing eviction there. He further took a dig at Narendra Modi saying that Modi doesn't see corruption in Punjab, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.

Biggest injury to secularism happened under Farooq Abdullah's regime: Modi

Gandhinagar, April 28 (ANI): Lashing back at Farooq Abdullah’s remark wherein he said that all Modi voters should jump into the sea, Narendra Modi, while speaking at his office, said that the biggest injury to secularism happened under Abdullah’s, his father’s and his son’s regime. He said that secularism is in Indian citizen’s blood and veins and not just in the Constitution. He said that it was Kashmir where the Kashmiri pandits were kicked out based on the religion and said that Abdullah is responsible for the migration of Hindus.

Modi must apologize or face defamation: TMC

Kolkata, April 28 (ANI): A day after his rally in Kolkata, Narendra Modi faced flak on Monday from the TMC for attacking its chief Mamata Banerjee. The party has demanded him to apologize to their leader publicly or face a defamation case for questioning the sale of Mamata Banerjee's painting. The TMC also asked Modi to give account of UTI and Balco scam. Sarcastically lauding Mamata's talent of painting, Modi at a rally in Srirampore on Sunday said, "Your paintings used to be sold for Rs 4 lakh, 8 lakh or 15 lakh, but what is the reason that one of your paintings sold for Rs 1.80 crore. I respect art."But who was the person who bought the painting for Rs 1.80 crore”.

Fire engulfs scrap yard, spreads to slum cluster in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad, April 28 (ANI): A massive fire swept through a scrap yard and spread to a slum cluster in Ghaziabad city on Monday, leaving hundreds of dwellers homeless. The fire devastated the slum cluster in Bhopura area. Dozens of fire tenders had rushed to the spot to douse the inferno. There was no loss of life reported from the fire so far. An eyewitness, Shamshudin, said the deadly fire spread like a wild inferno and the cause of the fire is yet unknown.

EC bans Ramdev in Lucknow, BJP saddened while Politicos welcome move

New Delhi, April 28 (ANI): While Election Commission’s ban on Ramdev against holding any meetings in Lucknow saddened the BJP, other political leaders welcomed the move. Congress leader Shobha Oza said that Ramdev’s place is either in jail or in mental asylum. NCP National Secretary Majid Memon said that he is not a political person and such remar5ks from him is not considered apt. CPI leader D Raja said that Ramdev cannot consider himself above law and that EC’s decision is right. Former SP leader Shahid Siddiqui said that the yoga guru should sit in his ashram and should remain quiet.

Derek O'Brien calls Modi 'Butcher of Gujarat', Politicos react

New Delhi/ Lucknow, April 28 (ANI): Politicos reacted over TMC leader Derek O'Brien's remark wherein he called Narendra Modi 'Butcher of Gujarat' following the later's remark over Mamata Banerjee. BJP leader Subramanian Swamy condemned the remark and said that they are lowering their levels. Congress leader Rita Bahuguna Joshi said that the word used is not right but Modi is blood handed due to 2002 riots. Rashid Alvi said that if Benerjee would have supported Modi, such a comment would not have come. Meanwhile, CPI leader D Raja condemned such languages used during polls. Former SP leader Shahid Siddiqui said that such languages would not benefit anyone, but will impact the society in the long run.

Farooq Abdullah says all Modi voters should jump into sea, Politicos react

BJP leader Subramanian Swamy said that nobody can move Modi and that Kashmir is an inseparable part of the nation. BJP Spokesperson MJ Akbar said that that there is no realistic chance of this as there is no sea in J and K. Congress condemns 'Damad Shree' video released by BJP

New Delhi/ Lucknow, April 28 (ANI): Congress on Sunday condemned BJP's video 'Damad Shree' which attacked Robert Vadra and his land deals on a large scale. Rita Bahuguna Joshi said that Modi wave was a false propaganda and that people will see what bad ways BJP is taking to attack Congress. Rashid Alvi also condemned such an act. Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that this is the same old stale matter, just wrapped in a booklet and CD. He also said that the BJP has no facts on this. Meem Afzal said that Congress doesn't do such dirty politics or else they could have released 'patnishree' or 'snoopshree'.

Suspected SIMI operative arrested from Bhopal

Bhopal, April 28 (ANI): Anti-terrorist Squad (ATS) arrested suspected Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) activist Gulrez Mustafa from Bhopal railway station. Action against Mustafa, a resident of Choti Gwaltoli locality of Indore, who was on ATS radar for long, came on the basis intelligence inputs. Gulrez is believed to have helped terror suspect Abu Faisal alias doctor to escape to Mahidpur via Indore after escaping from Khandwa jail on October 1, 2013. In December last year, ATS had nabbed Faisal and two accomplices on December 24, 2013. Carrying a reward of Rs 15,000, Gulrez was on the run and was arrested with Faisal in 2007 from a hotel in Indore.

Gilgit-Baltistan ruthlessly exploited by Pakistan

Geneva, April 28: Gilgit Baltistan that was annexed from the erstwhile princely state of Jammu and Kashmir is located strategically between Pakistan, India, China and Afghanistan. It has been controlled by Pakistan for decades now, and suffers from sectarian violence, militancy, poverty and unemployment. Senge Hashan Sering, president of the U.S. based Institute for Gilgit Baltistan Studies, blamed Pakistan for exploiting the region and fulfilling its own strategic interests. Many mega dams are under construction by Pakistan, including the Diamer-Bhasha Dam on the River Indus, which has been facing criticism from locals.
