Politicos react after Six- year old allegedly raped twice by school teacher in Bangalore

New Delhi, Oct 31 (ANI): Politicos reacted on Friday after a six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a Hindi teacher on the campus of her private school in Bangalore. BJP leader Nalin Kohli said that the incident is very unfortunate and we need to collectively work to remove such a mentality from the society. Congress leader Rashid Alvi said that such incidents are being repeated in Bangalore and the state government should look into the matter immediately. NCP leader Majid Memon also expressed similar sentiments.

Charges framed against 10 individuals and 9 companies for money laundering in 2G case

New Delhi, Oct 31 (ANI): A special court on Friday framed charges against former Telecom Minister A Raja, MP Kanimozhi, DMK Supremo M Karunanidhi's wife Dayalu Ammal and others for money laundering in a 2G scam-related case. All accused have pleaded not guilty. ED had chargesheeted 19 accused - 10 individuals and nine companies - in the case saying that the transaction of Rs 200 crore, which was allegedly paid to DMK-run Kalaignar TV, was "not genuine" and it was a "bribe for grant of telecom licences to DB Group companies". The accused had countered the claims of the ED contending there was no evidence to support the allegations levelled by the agency in its charge sheet.

Maharashtra CM designate Fadnavis participates in 'Run for Unity' event

Ahmedabad/ Mumbai/ Raipur, Oct 31 (ANI): Maharashtra Chief Minister designate Devendra Fadnavis participated in the 'Run for Unity' marathon near Hotel Trident on Friday. Governor C Vidyasagar Rao flagged off the event which was also attended by Union Information and Broadcasting minister Prakash Javadekar. Fadnavis, who will be sworn-in as the first BJP Chief Minister of Maharashtra today, said he was ready to take forward Prime Minister Modi's message of unity in the country. He also lauded Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for his enormous contribution towards the unity and integrity of the nation. Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh also flagged of the 'Run for Unity' programme in Raipur. Singh said that the country can never forget Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's contribution in uniting the nation and will always remember him with full respect.

Seven-storey building collapses in Pune, several feared trapped

Pune, Oct 31 (ANI): A 7-storey newly constructed building collapsed in Pune on Friday with several residents, including a child, feared trapped under the debris. Police rushed to the spot and officials started rescue operation at the venue. The building had 20 flats in which eight families were living. Currently, members of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and fire brigade are trying to rescue one person. Joint Commissioner of Police, Pune, Chandrashekhar Daithankar said builder was taken into custody and the inquiry was going on. A resident of the collapsed building, Praveen Hegde said there were cracks and vibrations in the building the previous day.

Six- year old allegedly raped twice by school teacher in Bangalore, accused detained

Bangalore, Oct 31 (ANI): In another such case of crime against children, a six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a Hindi teacher on the campus of her private school in Bangalore. The police have detained a 40-year-old suspect who is the victim's teacher in connection with the case. He added that there was only one CCTV camera on the campus and a complaint has also been filed against the school for not complying with safety guidelines issued by police. However, Block Education Officer SM Ramesh said that said that the school followed the guidelines and is a state recognized institution. Reportedly, the victim had complained to her mother after the incident took place on Tuesday and again on Wednesday after which the mother approached the police seeking further help. Meanwhile, the parents came in protest against the incident outside the school premises and demanded justice.

Rajnath Singh addresses passing out parade at National Police Academy in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Oct 31 (ANI): Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday addressed the passing out parade at National Police Academy in Hyderabad. Singh said that the ‘Dikshant Parade’ is being held in the academy after a gap of ten years on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary. He added that credit of merging 562 princely states with India goes only to Sardar Patel. Speaking on cyber crime, Singh said that the impact of cyber crime is global and that Singh has directed his department to formulate an effective prevention strategy for cyber crime.

Pranab Mukherjee and Rajnath Singh flags off 'Run for Unity' to mark Sardar Patel's birth anniversar

New Delhi/ Hyderabad, Oct 31 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee on Friday flagged off 'Run for Unity' at the Rashtrapati Bhavan to mark Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's birth anniversary. The residents and staff of Rashtrapati Bhavan, along with the President's Bodyguard, the army guard and the Delhi Police participated in the run. A Unity pledge was also administered by Omita Paul, secretary to the president, to all the staff members prior to the run. Meanwhile, Home Minister Rajnath Singh flagged off 'Run for Unity' in Hyderabad to mark the birth anniversary of Patel. He flagged off the run after paying tributes to Sardar Patel at his statue near assembly building. A large number of people, majority of them BJP workers, participated in the run.

Nation pays tribute to Indira Gandhi on her 30th death anniversary

New Delhi, Oct 31 (ANI): The nation is paying tribute to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her 30th death anniversary on Friday. Congress Party President and Indira Gandhi's daughter-in-law Sonia Gandhi and members of her family were the first to reach Shakti Sthal, the memorial dedicated to Indira Gandhi to pay a floral tribute. Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was also present at the venue. Other leaders and people from all walks of life are expected to follow. Indira Gandhi fell to assassins' bullets on this day in 1984 at her 1, Safdarjung Road residence in New Delhi. She was killed by her Sikh bodyguards more than four months after Operation Blue Star, which was launched on the Golden Temple in Amritsar. Functions will also be held at the Indira Gandhi Memorial at 1 Safdarjung Road. Meanwhile, President Pranab Mukherjee also paid tribute at Shakti Sthal to mark Indira Gandhi's death anniversary.

UK defence secy unveils plaques in memory of six Indian soldiers for bravery in World War I

New Delhi, Oct 31 (ANI): British Defence Secretary Michael Fallon in New Delhi unveiled plaques in memory of six Indian soldiers, who won Victoria Cross for their bravery during the World War I. Earlier, Fallon said his country would never forget enormous service rendered by Indian heroes while commemorating their contribution in the World War I under the United Kingdom's flag. India's Defence Minister Arun Jaitley said these plaques will be sent to hometowns of the soldiers. This year marks the centenary of World War I, which was fought between 1914 and 1918. The UK has funded a battlefield guide book that will be available for those families, who wish to visit France and Flanders battlefields. It has also sponsored table book giving a pictorial overview of India and the Great War, a part from it, digitising the war diaries of the Indian fighters.
