The event something really different whenTamil actor Simbhu bagged the award for the Best Male Singer. The award was for his song Diamond Girl from the NTR Jr starrer film Baadshah. The actor singer won the maximum votes against Shankar Mahadevan who was nominated for his song from Attarintiki Daredi. Simbu thanked Juniour NTR and Thaman for making it happen.
