Brahmarakshas-Jaag Utha Shaitan, which witnessed a drop in its Television Rating Points (TRPs) on week 39, is back on top in week 40 (October 1-October 6) of 2016.

According to data released by television audience measurement agency, the Broadcast Audience Research Council India (BARC), Krystle D'Souza-starrer has garnered 6.8million viewership among urban areas. With this, it appears like the revelation about Rakhi's (Charu Mehta) death has drawn the audience's attention, thereby raising the ratings of the supernatural show.

The second in the list of top scorers was The Kapil Sharma Show, which received 6.8million viewership. The comedy show was at number one position in week 39.

Shakti-Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki and Saath Nibhaana Saathiya grabbed the third and fourth position with 6.4million and 6.3million viewership, respectively. Both the shows, however, performed better than the previous week's ratings. Rubina Dilaik-starrer Shakti-Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki had been at the top position for several weeks owing to its unique concept. However, there is a decline in its ratings ever since Harman (Vivian Dsena) and Soumya (Rubina) got separated.

Surprisingly, Kumkum Bhagya, which had enjoyed the top position for several weeks, slipped to the fifth slot with 6.2million views.

Dance reality show Super Dancer managed to take the sixth spot with 6.1million views, pushing popular show Yeh Hai Mohabbatein to the seventh position. Ishita (Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya) and Raman's (Karan Patel) show seems to have lost its charm, probably due to the less screen space of the lead pair.

As for the ranking of television channels, Star Plus continues to remain at the top in urban areas. It was followed by Colors TV and Sony Entertainment Television. The other top channels are Zee TV, Life OK, Sony SAB, &TV, Zee Anmol, STAR Utsav and Sony Pal.

TRP is a tool to measure viewers' preferred programmes and the popularity of a particular channel based on data collected from a particular geography and demography.
