Three newly joined militants have been arrested by joint forces at Sogam of Kupwara district on Thursday, May 21. 

As per reports, J&K Police & Army's 28 RR arrested 3 militants during a cordon and search operation in the forest area of Kupwara in North Kashmir. All three were recently recruited into the militant group.

The three had posted pictures brandishing weapons on the social media recently announcing their joining. Two of them have been identified as Zakir Ahmad Bhat and Abid Hussain Wani and all three terrorists had joined the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror group recently.

SSP Kupwara Sriram Ambarkar told that the three were arrested after a Cordon And Search Operation (CASO) by police and army was launched in a forested area of Kupwara district on the basis of specific intelligence input. The arrests were made from Sogam in North Kashmir.

This comes days after the J&K Police busted a terror module of proscribed organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in Awantipora sector of Pulwama district in the Union Territory.

Further investigations are underway,
