Tata Motors' upcoming global product codenamed Kite has been teased in the #madeofgreat TV commercial featuring the company's new global brand ambassador, Argentinean footballer and Spanish club Barcelona forward Lionel Messi.

The teaser video shows the headlamp and tail lamp in an all new design which doesn't have resemblance with any of the current Tata cars. The front grille gets black colour finish. Additionally the video teases the rear door handle and prominent shoulder line.

Previous reports had suggested Sway and Zica as possible names for the Kite hatchback and Kite compact sedan, respectively, in the production form. Both the names have been registered by Tata Motors. The production of Tata Kite hatchback is expected to commence at the company's Sanand plant in Gujarat in December. The Tata Kite will be the first non-Nano hatchback from the plant.

The Tata Kite will be built on a new platform. Under the hood, Tata's global hatchback is likely to get a new 1.05-litre three-cylinder common-rail diesel motor that can churn out a power of 64.1bhp and 140Nm of torque and an all-new 1.2-litre petrol engine. The tubro-petrol Revotron engine debuted with Zest/Bolt is also expected in lesser displacement engine. The Kite is speculated to get e-clutch system similar to AMT that allows drivers to use manual transmission for the first gear without using the clutch.

When launched, the Tata Kite will be pitted against the Maruti Celerio and the Hyundai Grand i10 in India and is expected to be priced at around Rs 4 lakh.
