Tata Motors' upcoming car - codenamed Falcon 4 - is reportedly a revamped version of the company's Indica Vista hatchback, claims a new report.

Tata, the country's fourth-largest passenger car maker - has been rumoured to launch two new models - codenamed Falcon 4 and 5 - in the domestic market for quite some time. However, not many details of the new cars were available till recently.

Now, the folks at Car Toq, who seemed to have got hold of some images of Falcon 4, state that the aforementioned project is not a new model, but a re-engineered version of Indica Vista, with new design and features.

According to the report, the car is likely to retain the same 1.3 litre Fiat Multijet turbo diesel engine of its predecessor. In addition to this, the car may come in the 1.2 litre turbo petrol engine variant. Other speculated features of the car include redesigned rear bumbers, front grille and tail lamps. The interiors of the upcoming hatchback are likely to resemble Vista's existing model but with premium features.

The report suggests that Tata is planning to market its latest cars as a premium product in the domestic market. Tata is expected to launch the cars at the Auto Expo in February and the new models are likely to fall in the price brackets of ₹4.75 lakh and ₹7.5 lakh. It was also reported earlier that the company is planning to export these models to other markets, such as South Africa, Indonesia and Thailand.

Recently, Tata launched CNG variants of the Tata Indigo and Indica in India, under its emax series. The Indigo emax comes with a price tag starting at ₹4.99 lakh and going up to ₹5.27 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), while the new Indica emax falls in the range of ₹3.99 lakh to ₹4.26 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
