Indian external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj, known to be active on Twitter to reach out to people in distress in other nations, has now also reached out to none other than US Secretary of State John Kerry.

Kerry, 71, met with an accident while cycling in the French Alps on Sunday and broke his leg.

Sushma Swaraj sent out a tweet on Monday saying" Sorry to hear about your unfortunate accident. Wish u a speed recovery my friend."

Kerry was cycling near the Swiss border in one of the stages of the Tour de France when he crashed his bicycle. He was flown in a helicopter to a hospital in Geneva and will return to the US on Monday.

He was to be in Switzerland to hold talks over the Iran nuclear deal, deadline for which expires on 30 June. Kerry will, however, cut short the trip.

Kerry had visited India last year soon after the Modi government took charge, and had met with Sushma Swaraj.

The two had also recently spoken over the phone about the relief efforts in Nepal after the disastrous earthquake.

Sushma Swaraj and John Kerry are expected to meet again later this year for a strategic dialogue.

In fact, even during his India trip, Kerry had escaped an accident while in Gujarat, after two cars in his motorcade met with a minor accident while on the way to the airport.
