"Supernatural" Season 11 has been on a break since episode 15 "Beyond the Mat," aired Feb. 24. When the show returns with episode 16 Wednesday, March 16, 2016, it is expected to bring God back to Earth.

As fans know, Season 11 has been all about defeating Darkness (Emily Swallow) and putting her back in her prison before she destroys the entire world. However, this endeavour might prove to be more difficult than anything the Winchester brothers have done in the past, including locking Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino) up.

As it turns out, Darkness aka Amara is God's sister and it had taken many archangels and God himself to lock her up in the first place. The Winchesters knew it would require the same amount of manpower to defeat her again, which is why they had approached Lucifer earlier in the season; also, because Lucifer tricked them into believing God wanted them to seek his help.

However, that plan blew up in their faces when Castiel (Misha Collins) decided to be the martyr and let Lucifer use his body as a vessel. As of now, Lucifer is running free in the world, killing whom he chooses — angels, humans and demons alike — with a snap of his fingers. Now, not only do the Winchesters have to lock up Amara, they also have to deal with Lucifer.

Meanwhile, the promo for the Season 11 episode 16 shows the world is definitely facing apocalypse-like dangers, which in itself doesn't sound all that threatening, because the Winchesters stopped the actual Biblical apocalypse from occurring back in Season 5.

However, add the death of Death (Julian Richings), free reign of Lucifer, Castiel's imprisonment within his own body, Dean's (Jensen Ackles) sexual attraction towards Amara and the resulting inability to kill her and Crowley's (Mark Sheppard) shameful escape from Hell to that, and fans will see Winchesters have one heck of a job ahead.

All this adds up to the fact that God should return from his sabbatical and deal with the issues his own son and sister are creating in his world. While fans are still not sure about the identity of God, the most famous theory is Chuck (Rob Benedict), who had appeared in Season 5 as author of the "Supernatural" book series, is the mysterious father of all beings, and the brother of spiteful Amara.

He will hopefully return to the show in Season 11 finale and help the Winchesters imprison Amara and talk some sense into Lucifer.
