The official trailer for Border 2 was released yesterday. The trailer lasts 3 minutes and 35 seconds and invokes a sense of patriotism. The intense, hard-hitting dialogues, war scenes, and action sequences are sure to give you goosebumps.
The film is scheduled to be released just before Republic Day, on 23rd January 2023. Directed by Anurag Singh, it stars Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh, and Medha Rana.
The movie is hugely based on the 1971 Indo-Pak war. Wherein Sunny Deol plays a senior soldier who inspires his team with his fearless approach.
The trailer opens with Sunny's powerful speech to his army men, where he shares that the border is not just a line but a promise made to their countrymen, a promise to never let the enemy break through. "Aur aaj kuch bhi ho jaaye hum ye vada tootne nahi denge (Whatever happens today, we will not let this promise be broken)."
Varun, Diljit, and Ahan are shown in the Army, Air Force, and Navy, respectively, with Diljit playing an Air Force officer. The trailer then features a montage of fights and heartfelt moments from their personal lives.
Amid tensions, happy moments, and the chaos of war, Sunny's dialogue towards the end has wowed fans. In the clip, he picks up a phone and scolds a Pakistani on the other end of the line.
In his celebrated high-pitched delivery, he declares, "Humein kya haraoge. Arey tumhare Pakistan mein itne log nahi jitne humare yahan Eid par bakre kaate jaate hain." ("How will you defeat us? You don't even have as many people in Pakistan as the number of goats slaughtered here during Eid.")
This isn't the first time his dialogue has been appreciated. In the original Border (1997), Sunny became iconic for another line that he continues to repeat, even during promotions for Border 2. In a memorable scene where he boosts the morale of his jawans, he asks, "Awaaz kahan tak jaani chahiye? [How far should the voice reach?]" "Lahore tak [Till it reaches Lahore]."
Netizens are disgusted with Sunny's loud, telling voice while mouthing dialogue
The trailer has received mixed reviews. Some have lauded the storytelling, while many feel it is a letdown, criticising Sunny for constantly screaming and yelling with little emotional depth. A section of netizens and politicians has also slammed the makers for using the BSF uniform as a prop.

Congress MP Abhishek Singhvi, representing Telangana in the Rajya Sabha, took to social media to criticize Bollywood actors for using the BSF uniform as a prop in their film Border 2. Sharing a link of Varun Dhawan promoting the movie dressed as a BSF jawan, Singhvi described the act as demeaning and a complete mockery of the officials.
This is shocking, demeaning and a complete mockery of the BSF. Jawans parading in sacred uniform while Bollywood actors arrive like kings in a jeep for a movie promotion.

The BSF uniform is not a prop and patriotism is not pageantry. Stop this clownery and respect those who guard…
