Twenty-five personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were killed while several more jawaans were injured when attacked by the Naxalites between Burkapal-Chintagufa area in South Bastar in Sukma, Chhattisgarh, on Monday, April 24. The 74 Battalion of the CRPF had been battling the Naxals for at least an hour in the area.

On Tuesday, April 25, the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh paid homage to 25 jawans at the headquarters of the 4th battalion of the Chhattisgarh Armed Force. He has called the attack a "cold-blooded murder."
