Glamorous girls in colourful suits stole the limelight at the London Olympics the last few days, performing stunning moves in the waters as if it's dancing floor. The routines may look easy but it's one of the toughest events, as the girls have to perform under water and yet be graceful and smile all the time.
Russia won the Synchronised Swimming duet event gold a few days ago, and they won the team event too, its fourth consecutive gold medal. They have been dominating the event for over a decade now.
Russia's synchronised swimmers swept to gold with an impeccably executed team routine punctuated by military drumbeats and spectacular acrobatic jumps, marking their fourth consecutive clean sweep at the Games, reported Reuters.
Dressed in black, red and gold suits, Russian team consisting of Davydova, Maria Gromova, Natalia Ishchenko, Elvira Khasyanova, Alexandra Patskevich, Svetlana Romashina, Anzhelika Timanina and Alla Shishkina gave a spectacular show with their routine.
After winning the team technical routine on Thursday, they went on to score 98.930 points for a team free routine on Friday, raising the total to 197.030 to win gold.
China clinched silver with 194.010 points in a close contest with Spain. They eventually won with just 0.89 points lead. Their 97.010 score from free routine made all the difference. They have shown great improvement under their coach Masayo Imura.
Spain settled for bronze by scoring a total of 193.120 point.
