Karan Johar recently announced that he would be making a sequel to his 2012 release "Student of the Year" and speculations about the lead cast have already started doing the rounds. However, several media reports claim that the lead actors for the sequel have been finalised.
Shahid Kapoor's half-brother Ishaan Khattar and Saif Ali Khan's daughter Sara Khan will make their Bollywood debut with Karan's film, Catch News reported. In 2015, there were reports that Karan's Dharma Productions would launch new actors, and this year rumours have been doing the rounds that Ishaan has already auditioned for Karan's film.
Ishaan looks like the first choice to play the male lead role, but for the female lead, the makers wanted to pull Sridevi's daughter Jahnavi Kapoor, on board, DNA reported. However, now Saif's daughter will make her foray into Bollywood with the sequel to the 2012 film "Student of the Year."
Meanwhile, "Student of the Year" also had a fresh cast -- Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan – in the lead roles. So when Alia was asked about the sequel and whether she will be seen in the second installment, she said she would want to be a part of the film.
"I don't know if the star cast of Student of the Year has been finalized, but I know SOTY was made with three new comers and I think that should remain. SOTY 2 should be made with a new star cast but I'll ask Karan if I can do a special appearance in the film," Deccan Chronicle quoted her as saying.
