Bollywood's dream couple Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan's blockbuster "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" (DDLJ) completes 19 years on Monday. The film was released on 20 October 1995.

The film is the debut of Aditya Chopra, who gave rise to the evergreen romantic hero SRK.

"DDLJ" became such a huge hit that it is still running in Mumbai's Maratha Mandir. The film has also got the Guinness Book of World Record for the same reason. However, the theatre's management is planning to draw the curtains on the film screening this December, as they witness a major drop in its overall collections recently.

The magic of Raj-Simran and the charm of the film still remains in everyone's heart.

Here are some facts that a few people are only aware of.

The life of the movie – SRK – was not the first choice for the character Raj Malhotra. Initially, Saif Ali Khan was selected for the role, but he turned down the offer, which eventually went to King Khan, according to The Times of India.

It was also said that since Raj was an NRI character, the filmmakers suggested to rope in Hollywood actor Tom Cruise but the idea was dropped eventually.

It further reported that Chopra named the character Raj, which he got inspired from the legendary actor Raj Kapoor.

Kiran Kher, wife of Anupam Kher, who acted as Raj's mother, actually gave the title of the film.

"DDLJ" marked the onscreen debut of Karan Johar and Mandira Bedi.

The blockbuster romantic drama was released on the 25th anniversary (silver jubilee) of Yash Raj Films, according to Pinkvilla.

Interestingly, a film of the same title was released in 1980.

The gorgeous Kajol was not informed that the "Happy New Year" actor will drop her on the floor in the song "Ruk Jaa O Dil Diwane" as Chopra wanted to capture the actress' natural reactions.

Chopra found it difficult to shoot the part where SRK opens his shirt and shows lipstick marks to Kajol in the film. The reason was that the actress used to burst out laughing when Khan opened his shirt as she herself drew those marks.
