Kidambi Srikanth missed out on the Male Player of the Year at BWF Awards Gala Dinner 2017 in Dubai on Monday, December 11, but the in-form Indian shuttler stole the show to win the "Mr Best Dressed" award.

The 24-year-old and world number one women's singles star Tai Tzu Ying were adjudged the best-dressed players at the award ceremony.

Marcus Fernaldi, Kevin Sanajaya reign supreme

The BWF Male Player of the Year award was eventually won by world number one men's doubles duo of Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo, who won a record a staggering six Superseries titles in 2017.

Srikanth, who himself won four Superseries titles in the year, was nominated for the prestigious year-ending award along with reigning world champion Viktor Axelsen of Denmark and Zheng Siwei of China.

No delight for PV Sindhu, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy

On the other hand, Olympic silver medallist PV Sindhu also missed out on the BWF Female Player of the Year, which went to Chen Qingchen of China.

The 20-year-old, who won the world championships gold in women's doubles and silver in mixed doubles along with five Superseries titles in 2017, also beat the likes of Tai and Akane Yamaguchi for the award.

Meanwhile, 17-year-old Satwiksairaj Rankireddy missed out on Most Promising Player of the Year, which was bagged by former junior world champion Chen Yufei of China.
