A leaked audition tape that surfaced on the internet (through Omega Underground) clearly indicates that Marvel is looking to cast Gwen Stacy in the upcoming sequel. It shows an unknown French actress, whose stage name is Louna, auditioning for the role.

For those who do not know who Gwen Stacy is, here is some information about the character here.

Gwen Stacy is Peter Parker's girlfriend in The Amazing Spider-Man #121 in 1973 until she dies. In the comics, Stacy's father George Stacey is a police captain.

Fans have been wondering how Marvel will play this out ever since the tidbit emerged. As noted by comicbook.com, Gwen might be introduced as a foreign exchange student in Peter Parker's school. Her mother could be a French native, who would die in France, hence she would be sent to live with her father in New York.

On the other side, her father might be transferred to New York City as a part of his job, and that's how the Marvel bosses might introduce Gwen's character to Peter Parker.

However, if the audition tape is real, then Zendaya's Mary Jane will have tough competition in Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 until Gwen gets killed at the hands of the Green Goblin.

This would not be the first time Gwen Stacy will be sharing screen space with Peter Parker aka Spider-Man. She made her debut in Spider-Man 3, portrayed by Bryce Dallas Howard.

Even Emma Stone also made quite a mark with her portrayal of the character in the Amazing Spider-Man film series.
