About 41 people were killed in a fire in a hospital in South Korea on Friday, January 26, morning reported Yonhap news agency. About 70 people are also said to have sustained injuries in the blaze.

The five-storey Sejong Hospital building reportedly also houses a nursing home. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Video footages have emerged online that show a helicopter flying over the blazing hospital building Miryang and the structure can be seen surrounded by several fire engines.

It was earlier said that about 19 people had been killed, but later the firefighters said that the toll could be around 33.

"Two nurses said they had seen fire suddenly erupting in the emergency room," the Agence France-Presse quoted fire chief Choi Man-Woo as saying. "The victims came both from the hospital and the nursing home. Some died on their way to another hospital."

He also added that all the patients had been evacuated now.

It has been reported that about 200 people were in the Sejong Hospital when the fire broke out.
