Sony Sends out Invites for March 6 Event; Xperia Z Expected Facebook

Sony has sent invites to media houses for an event on 6 March in which it is expected to unveil it's much-anticipated flagship phone Xperia Z.

The company has also posted the invite on its Facebook page along with a teaser image of the phone. Although the invite does not reveal what will be unwrapped at the event, but the image posted along side gives a hint that it's Xperia Z.

The invite reads "Everything is about to change 06/03/13." The image comes with a tagline which read "Coming soon the best of Sony." The company has also launched a countdown campaign for the event.

Speculations on Sony's Xperia Z has been going on for quite sometime now, and even as reports of its launch in India surfaced, Sony has kept mum. The high-end Xperia Z smartphone, which was recently unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show, marked a good start after its launch in home country Japan and several parts of Europe. The Android smartphone is currently available in 60 countries.

Xperia Z sports a 5 inch full HD capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and is powered by a quad core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor. It runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system and houses a 13MegaPixel rear camera along with 2.2MegaPixel front-facing camera. The smartphone supports connectivity features like WIFI, Bluetooth, NFC and 4G LTE.

In terms of memory, the smartphone comes with 2GB RAM and internal storage of 16GB which is expandable up to 32GB through microSD card. Besides this, the phone comes with IP57 certification for dust and water resistance.

The company has not revealed its price in India but reports suggested that the smartphone is likely to be priced ₹36,000.
