Director Prakash Jha's film, "Satyagraha", which is based on politics, finished the first week at the box office on a decent note. The film raked in good revenue on second Friday, despite new releases like "Shuddh Desi Romance" and "Zanjeer".

The political drama featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Arjun Rampal, Amrita Rao and Manoj Bajpai in the lead raked in ₹1.28 crore on second Friday, taking the eight days domestic total to ₹56.71 crore.

"#Satyagraha [Week 2] Fri 1.28 cr. Grand total: ₹56.71 cr nett," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.

The film performed better in singles screens as compared to multiplexes in India. Keeping in mind the theme and its genre, the film has less repeat value and it might not sustain at the box office for a long time like other masala films.

The big star-cast in the film was one of the main reasons why the first week collection was better than other flicks based on politics.

"Satyagraha has nothing new to offer and its length only adds to the woes. A lot of people expected to see glimpses of the anti-corruption movement, but the film has failed to match up to expectations," trade analyst Amod Mehra said, according to Financial Express.

It remains to be seen how the film perform at box office in its second week.

Meanwhile, blockbuster film, "Chennai Express" theatrical run has almost stopped at the box office after the release of "Shuddh Desi Romance" and "Zanjeer".

The family entertainer starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone made a total collection of ₹224.43 crore from Indian markets within four weeks. The film became one of the most profitable films of the year after earning more than ₹150 crore profit from Indian markets along.
