Punjabi film "Sardaar Ji" (also spelled as Sardar Ji) got a remarkable opening not just in India, but also at the overseas box office on Friday and it registered a decent growth in the global market on Saturday.

Directed by Rohit Jugraj, "Sardaar Ji" features Diljit Dosanjh, Mandy Takhar and Neeru Bajwa in the lead roles. It is one of the most hyped Punjabi movies of 2015 and its promos had garnered good response from the viewers. The film was released in several cinema halls in Punjab and other parts of the country as well as abroad on 26 June.

"Sardaar Ji" received an overwhelming response in theatres across Punjab, Delhi, Mumbai and Rajasthan and collected ₹2.49 crore at the Indian box office on its opening day. The movie raked in approximately ₹2.72 crore at the Indian box office on its second day. Its two-day Indian total stands at almost ₹5.21 crore.

The film received good response in international markets, such as Australia, UK and New Zealand, as well. Its first two days' collection stood as ₹1.05 crore (A$216,286) in Australia, ₹58.14 lakh (£58,165) in the UK and ₹29.73 lakh (NZ$68,434) in New Zealand.

"Sardaar Ji" has thus collected ₹1.92 crore at the International box office in two days and thus its overall earnings stand at ₹7.13 crore. The makers of the film are yet to reveal the details of its business in the USA, Canada and few other foreign countries. After adding collection from these countries, the overall global collection in two days is expected to cross ₹10 crore.

Produced by Gunbir Singh Sidhu and Manmord Sidhu, "Sardaar Ji" has been made at a whopping budget of ₹11 crore. The movie has almost recovered its production cost in two days. Early trends showed that the film witnessed further jump in its business on Sunday and its distributors were likely to make some profit by the end of the weekend.
