Samsung Unveils Galaxy Tab Active in India; Price, Specifications

Samsung Electronics has announced a new tablet – Galaxy Tab Active – for the Indian market.

It is touted as the first ever tablet designed specially for business executives, employing the rugged, portable design that professionals desire, to take on the demands of today's challenging business environment, according to a press release.

Galaxy Tab Active has all the necessary connectivity features in a 9.75mm width body. It also boasts of an anti-reflective, high brightness 400 nit touchscreen display for viewing content everywhere, even outdoors.

Galaxy Tab Active has an 8-inch LCD screen and is powered by 1.2GHz quad-core processor with 1.5GB of RAM. With IP67 dust and water resistant certification, Galaxy Tab Active is protected against these elements. It even has a coverless micro-USB port which maintains easy connectivity while keeping dust and debris out. Galaxy Tab Active is capable of working even ni the toughest of conditions. 

Galaxy Tab Active comes with a bundled protective case, and therefore can endure minor bumps and bruises during everyday usage to even falling on the ground. Its anti-shock covering can withstand a 1.2-meter drop, with the protective cover.

Galaxy Tab Active is supported by Samsung KNOX for a defence-grade, comprehensive mobile security solution. This reinforced security desired by businesses keeps applications and data safe in a professional's own secure space without the need for a third-party platform and extra cost. Samsung KNOX gives employees the freedom to customise their device with personal apps and data.

Galaxy Tab Active allows users to address platform security with Trusted Boot, Trusted Zone-Based Integrity Measurement Architecture and Security Enhancements for Android (SE for Android).

It is powered by a 4,450mAh battery that claims to offer life of up to 10 hours, and which can easily be replaced with a spare battery when necessary, for uninterrupted working. Connectivity options include Micro USB 2.0, Wi-Fi, NFC and AllShare Cast for wireless content mirroring on any display with HDMI.

A fast and accurate 3.1 megapixel rear-facing auto focus camera with LED flash lets business professionals capture high quality images while on the job. The camera can also easily scan barcodes.

These days, being capable charging multiple devices quickly is essential at many businesses. A 3-Pin POGO connection allows users to quickly and easily connect a group of devices and charge them simultaneously. 

Galaxy Tab Active supports NFC connectivity for sharing content between mobile devices and tablets. NFC tagging makes it easy to use access cards and readers, facilitates employee tracking and can be used in multiple logistics scenarios as well.

Professionals will appreciate the built-in C-Pen that is slotted at the top of the tablet's protective cover. C-pen is a tougher version of the standard stylus which is easy to access and use, and makes writing, note-taking and signatures simple.

However Samsung has not mentioned anything on the availability or the offer price in the press release.
