Samsung Galaxy Note 8, the next-generation version of the company's flagship phablet series, has already been spotted in a web application for the evaluation of browser accuracy.

While there are still months to go before the device is officially announced, the upcoming Galaxy S8 has already made an appearance running Android 7.1.1 Nougat in HTML5Test's database. In the test, the device, with an official model number SM-N950F, scored 488 points out of a total 555.

HTML5test is used to evaluate a web browser's accuracy in implementing the web standards HTML5 and Web SQL Database, as well as the WebGL standard.

In addition to Android 7.1.1, the Galaxy Note 8 was also apparently running the 5.2 version of the Samsung Internet web browser, which has replaced the stock Android browser on Samsung Galaxy devices since 2012. The Version 5.2 of Samsung Internet for Android, which was launched with the Galaxy S8 and S8+ devices, includes support for a number of key new features, such as the DeX desktop mode.

Samsung also recently launched the Samsung Internet 5.4 browser for Galaxy and Google Nexus phones running on Android 5.0 and above. The new version comes with new UI enhancements, in addition to the features that arrived with version 5.2. Therefore, it's safe to assume that the Galaxy Note 8 will also feature the newer version of Samsung Internet web browser.

Appearance of the Samsung Galaxy S8 in a benchmark test months before the launch shouldn't come as surprise as the company might be testing the phone, which is expected to be unveiled in September at IFA 2017.

The device is likely to come with the same design language as that of the Galaxy S8 and S8+. The notable feature addition will be in the form of an S Pen stylus.

Rumours have suggested that the Galaxy Note 8 could feature a 6.3-inch Infinity Display, a 12MP+12MP dual camera setup with 3x optical zoom on the back and an 8MP secondary camera on the front.

The handset could be powered by an Exynos 8895 processor or a Snapdragon 836 SoC. However, it could also feature a rear fingerprint sensor like the Galaxy S8 phones, which may be a cause of concern for some users.
