Will Galaxy Note 8 be the first Snapdragon 836-powered smartphone in the world?

Samsung's Galaxy Note 8 has long been rumoured to sport the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, and now a fresh report suggests that it will be the first phone to sport Snapdragon 836 processor onboard. The new SoC from Qualcomm will have the processor clocked at 2.5GHz, besides featuring a GPU running at 740MHz, according to a recent report by ITHome.

Although the yet unannounced next-gen Pixel phones and LG V30 are highly-rumoured to feature the Snapdragon 835 SoC, the latest report clearly hints that Qualcomm could be silently testing out the new Snapdragon 836 SoC for these handsets alongside the Galaxy Note 8.

Qualcomm has historically released mid-cycle SoC upgrades with Snapdragon 821 and Snapdragon 801 in the past and the chipset maker is likely to continue the trend with the Snapdragon 836 SoC as well.

As far as the rumoured specifications are concerned, the Galaxy Note 8 is expected to feature a 6.3-inch Quad HD Infinity display, a dual camera setup featuring one 12MP and one 13MP sensor, Android 7.1 Nougat, an 8MP auto-focus camera, an USB Type-C port and an iris scanner.

It is further reported that the Snapdragon 836 variant will be initially launched in China and North America, while the Exynos 8895 variant will debut in rest of the world.
