Samsung Galaxy A7

It hasn't been long since Samsung released its brand new Galaxy A7 handset. The handset was among four new smartphones launched for the Indian market on Monday: The other three in the list being the Galaxy Grand Prime 4G, Galaxy Core Prime 4G, and the J1 4G.

All the four smartphones were on display at the Samsung Forum 2015 in Bangkok. But keeping our focuses steady on the Galaxy A7, the device has already been launched in India at a price of ₹30,499, while the other three smartphones will be launched around mid-March.

But of all the four, needless to say, the Galaxy A7 catches the eye the most, simply due to its full-metal body avatar. The handset is the most expensive one in the entire 'A' series of Samsung and is expected to compete against the other big names currently operating in the market.

With the smartphones already launched, it will take a bit of time before the handset starts catching up with users. And if you are one of those interested in the handset, here are the 5 things that you should know about the handset that we learnt.

How Good is the Beauty-Face Mode?
Apart from introducing all the usual camera modes for the Galaxy A7's 13mp rear camera and 5mp front camera (supports wide-angle for group selfies), Samsung has also added the often found Beauty-face mode into the handset. If you are selfie fanatic, this mode will surely attract you since it offers an extra layer of tone to your skin to make it selfie ready. Plus, the front flash also helps out.

Dated Android On-Board
While the A7 comes with some good features and specs inside, a few of the Android faithful could be turned off by the fact that the handset comes running the outdated Android 4.4.4 inside. In comparison to this, the Galaxy S4 (just received a price drop to ₹17,499) already runs the Android 5.0 Lollipop. For a smartphone that's a little over 30k in price, one would imagine Lollipop will come naturally pre-installed. However, Samsung has other plans.

Is 64GB External Support Enough?
Like most smartphones in its range, the Galaxy A7 comes with support for external microSD cards. The handset allows users to expand the space on the phone to 64 GB via a microSD. Sure that kind of space anyway seems more than enough for the average smartphone user, but it is interesting to point out that if it's 64GB of external support your are looking at, smartphones such as OnePlus One and Xiaomi Mi 4 already offer that for less price.

Impressive Insides
Samsung's Galaxy A7 smartphone comes with 16 GB total internal storage space, 2GB of RAM support, assisted by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 Octa-core processor that includes two quad-core A53 chips clocked at 1.5 and 1 GHz respectively. While more detailed study is required (via medium-to-heavy usage), on paper, the internal specs seem like they will do a more than decent job in running whatever apps you throw at it. Also expect gaming to be lag-free.

To 4G or Not to 4G?
That's the question that you should ask yourself if you are interested in the phone, especially in its 4G capabilities. As of now, it seems like there are two versions of the Galaxy A7, one of which is an LTE Cat 4 verison, while the other one being an HSPA+ version. We aren't sure if the Galaxy A7 will support 4G in India, but if it doesn't, the smartphone might seem like quite an expensive buy, given the fact that your area does support 4G.
