Samsung chairman takes selfie with PM Modi, S Korean president on 'Made in India' phone

Samsung Chairman Lee Jae-yong on Monday shared a selfie featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi and South Korean President Lee Jae Myung, who is on a state visit to India.

The photograph was captured using Samsung's latest foldable smartphone, manufactured at the company's key production facility in India.

According to The Chosun Daily, a Korean-language newspaper, on the 20th, Samsung Electronics' Newsroom Instagram account posted a photo featuring Chairman Lee Jae-yong, South Korean President Lee Jae Myung, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The image was taken by Chairman Lee during a welcome luncheon hosted by Prime Minister Modi in India. It shows President Lee and Chairman Lee flanking PM Modi, all smiling for the camera, added the report.

Samsung said the photo was captured using the Galaxy Z Flip7, which is produced at the company's Noida manufacturing facility in India.

Samsung Electronics has been manufacturing mobile phones in Noida since 1996.

The facility produces flagship devices, including foldable smartphones, as well as entry-level models.

The operations align with India's Make in India initiative and are also aimed at serving the country's large domestic market.

In Chennai, Samsung manufactures televisions and home appliances, while it also operates a research and development centre in Bengaluru.

Earlier in the day, following talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and South Korean President Lee Jae Myung, India and South Korea agreed to begin negotiations to upgrade their comprehensive partnership agreement amid growing trade disruptions driven by geopolitical tensions.

"In this era of global tensions, India and South Korea together convey a message of peace and stability," PM Modi said after the talks.

Both sides also agreed to work together to promote peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
