Samay Raina's shocking revelation about Ranveer Allahbadia's viral parent joke; IGL season 2 confirmed

Samay Raina is back! Time changed, and for good, in Samay's favour. Stand-up comedian Samay Raina dropped a new video, Still Alive, on his YouTube channel, where he opened up about the controversy around his show, India's Got Latent, which was shut down, and what actually happened all while how his friend and Habitat owner, Balraj, stood by him. Samay also held back his tears while sharing how his family and other guests' family members were also dragged into this.

Fighting back his tears, Samay recounted that his father was his supporter, and surprisingly, Deepak Kalal and Samay Raina stood by him. Tanmay Bhatt also guided him. Samay stood up for Apoorva, aka Rebel Kid, who gave it back to contestants over a female body part joke that he cracked on her.  And with that, Samay also announced season 2 of his show.

From mental health to emotional talks, tears, laughs, parents, Mumbai Police, and friendships, and at the end, a motivational line. Samay Raina's Still Alive video simply says, "Whatever life gives, come back should be like Samay Raina."

In his latest stand-up special, Samay Raina: Still Alive, he confessed that the controversial episode, starring Ranveer Allahbadia, aka BeerBiceps, originally featured way more vulgar content than the one that hit headlines.

Samay Raina said that although he had removed all of them, it was the one question related to parents that was still creating a stir and haunting social media. Samay Raina added that Ranveer Allahbadia had asked the same objectionable question eight times in the episode.

Answering why he didn't edit out Allahbadia's controversial question from the show, Samay Raina said, "Main tumhe maa ki kasam sach batata hoon. Uss episode main BeerBiceps ne voh sawal 8 baar poocha tha. Aur iske alawa bhi kayi ant shant sawal (rubbish) pooche the usne. Toh ab jab maine edit dekha na, maine kaha, 'Yeh toh bohot gandi baatein kari hain isne.'"  ("I swear on my mother, I'm telling you the truth. In that episode, BeerBiceps asked that question eight times. And apart from that, he asked a lot of random, nonsensical questions. So when I saw the edit, I thought, 'He's said some really inappropriate things'.")

Samay Raina added that he decided to retain the question only in one segment, which backfired. "Chalo ek rakh deta hoon, baaki sab hata deta hoon.' Toh mere POV se maine toh 99 per cent keetanu (germs) maar diye the na yaar.." ( I had edited out 99 percent of the mess, but that 1 percent created pandemic).

He added, "It was unfair whatever happened with Ranveer. When I saw all this, I will defend this guy until the end. But the joke he cracked I couldn't defend him at my house. My mother used to ask me what the joke was. I told my mom to leave it."

Samay explained that the image of Ranveer is meditation, sadhana, spirituality, and he comes on the show and asks, "Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once to make it stop forever?"

In the clip, Ranveer's question caught Samay Raina off guard, prompting him to react with surprise, saying, "What the f***?"

His joke tarnished his good image. Samay also added that since he has this image of talking and cracking jokes, coming from him  ( Ranveer) was still not acceptable, but Ranveer has a clear image.

Samay jokingly referred to Ranveer as "the monk who sold my Ferrari," blaming him for ruining the show.

Samay Raina mocks Sunil Pal, B Praak, and Mukesh Khanna

Regarding the fallout from India's Got Latent, Samay revealed that an FIR was filed against Ranveer Allahbadia for stepping outside his usual persona. "Hum Kashmiri crossfire me hi marte hain.."

He added, "It broke me like anything.."

Describing the show as raw and largely unscripted, he said, "Bohot gandi gandi baatein keh dete the" to get laughs, although he tried to "lay safe by editing episodes carefully and interacting with panellists post-shoots.

Samay also took shots at critics and industry figures. He recalled, "Sab aa gaye the khane hamko.." ( Everyone pounced on us..) politician, celebrities, Sunil Pal." Raina joked that Sunil advised him to learn from Kapil Sharma. Samay said, "Khud agle episode me aa rahe the Kapil Sharma." ( Kapil Sharma was the next guest).

He also mocked B Praak and Mukesh Khanna, saying, "Shaktimaan aa gaya tha yaar. Shaktimaan se kaise ladenge.." ( How will we fight against Shaktimaan)

Samay Raina announces season 2

Samay Raina said, "Rahi baat India's Got Latent ki, log puchte rehte hai mujhse 'Kya yeh show wapis aayega?'. Maine bahot socha iss baare mein I swear to god. I don't think isse high point pe mera show end ho sakta tha. Let me rephrase that. I don't think isse high point pe mere show ka season 1 end ho sakta tha (Talking about India's Got Latent, people keep asking me, 'Will this show come back?' I thought about it a lot, I swear to God. I don't think my show could end on such a high point. Let me rephrase that. I don't think season 1 of my show could end on such a high point)."

There were loud cheers from the audience after Samay gave a hint about India's Got Latent season 2. He further said, "Show toh main launga. Kyunki maza aata tha woh show karne mein. Mere ko bas jab tak hu main iss duniya mein maze karne hai. Main chahata hu ke main ek wild show karo. Internet pe dekhenge, cut koot ke softy version dalenge. I want to do a wild f*king show (I will bring that show. Because it was fun to do it. I just want to have fun as long as I am in this world. I want to do a wild show. On the internet, we will cut and put a soft version. I want to do a wild f*king show)."

After Samay's Still Alive video, Ranveer Allahbadia's Instagram section is once again filled with users poking him, asking why he asked the question 8 times.

A user said, "Release all those cut videos as well. Let people know how heinous BeerBiceps is."

Another user wrote, "Eight times... new FIR loading.."

Let's walk down memory lane. Last year, when Ranveer asked this question on India's Got Latent panel, he was slammed left, right and centre, with multiple FIRs against him. The show was pulled down, all content deleted, and Ranveer was labelled as a "perverted creator", with calls for stricter regulation of inappropriate content accessible to underage social media users. Many even said that it was downright ugly.
