Sundeep Kishan and Anish Ambrose's Telugu movie "Run," which was released in theatres Wednesday, has received mixed verdict and average ratings from the critics.

"Run" is an official remake of the Malayalam and Tamil movie "Neram," written and directed by Alphonse Putharen. Ani Kanneganti adapted the bilingual film to Telugu. The critics say the director has remained honest to the original story and he has not tried to add anything fresh to the script.

Sanju (Sundeep Kishan) is a software engineer, who loses his job due to recession. He takes a loan from money lender Vaddi Raja (Bobby Simha) for his sister's marriage, but fails to repay on time. At this juncture, his girlfriend Ammu (Anisha Ambrose) plans to elope with him as her father disapproves of their relationship. The rest of the movie is about how Sanju manages the situation.

"Run" has a short runtime, but its narration is very slow. Sundeep Kishan, Anisha Ambrose, Brahmaji, Bobby Simha and Posani have delivered decent performances, which are among the highlights of the film. The movie has top notch production values and Sai Karthik's music and camera work are the big attractions in the technical front.

The movie has been rated an average of 2.43 out of 5 stars. We bring you some critics' verdict and ratings. Check out the "Run" review round-up:

India Glitz Ratings: 2.5

Run is a decent entertainer. Watch it for some bright moments. Just as time has its boons and banes, this film has its share of hits and misses.

123 Telugu Ratings: 3

One of the biggest advantages of Run is the crisp run time. A simple story interlinked with different characters and how they are unraveled during the end is what Run is all about. Barring the non effective narration during the second half and rushed up climax, Run has enough twists and subtle comedy which will make up for a decent watch this week.

Sakshi Review

Sandip has matured as an actor and his performance in this film is praiseworthy. Heroine Anisha is pretty and does her job well. Brahmaji essays a key role. Posani is his usual self. The best of the lot is Bobby Simha. He has essayed the same role in both Tamil and Malayalam. Ani Kanneganti does his job well. The film is a thriller and he manages to keep the script taut. The screenplay is gripping. The background score of Sai Kartik is good.

AP Herald Ratings: 1.50

"Run" has tried to recreate frame to frame remake of the original "Neram", which doesn't really bring anything new or worthwhile to the table to justify its existence, director Ani Kanneganti should have improvised on the script a bit to suit the audience sensibilities. Overall, Run is a snail paced thriller that failed to capture the soul of the original.

Gulte Ratings: 2.75

Run is a film that will appeal to audience who look for freshness, but it has its shortcomings. It could have been a good film if there were better comedic moments and thrilling elements thrown into the narrative. The attempt can be lauded but not the end product. You may watch it if you are game for something different from the usual.
