Even before he could completely bask in the success of 'Dhurandhar,' Ranveer Singh has landed in a quandary. Ranveer Singh is at loggerheads with Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani over 'Don 3.' Excel Entertainment has demanded Rs 40 crore in damages from the superstar for choosing to walk out of the franchise.
Ranveer has not officially stated what made him walk out of 'Don 3' since he had not only shot for the promo but seemed quite gung-ho about it earlier. Singh has cited the delay in shooting as one of the reasons behind his decision to walk out of the project. And in his response to Excel Entertainment demanding Rs 40 crore in compensation, the superstar has asserted that he is not liable to pay.

Refuses to pay
Ranveer Singh has called it the "nature of the business" and added that he had not taken any money from them to begin with. Farhan and Sidhwani, on the other hand, are seeking Rs 40 crore in compensation towards the pre-production cost.
"The bone of contention was that Ranveer Singh should pay Rs 40 crores to Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani for the losses incurred in the pre-production of the film," a Bollywood Hungama report stated.

It went on to add, "Ranveer argued that he was not liable to pay as he had not taken a single paisa from the producers. Hence, paying back such a hefty amount was out of the question," it further added.
Nature of business
Ranveer reportedly also argued that he had waited for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Baiju Bawra' for over a year. He immersed himself in prepping for the role and said no to many other lucrative parts that came his way during that period. However, Bhansali eventually shelved the film and started focusing on 'Love and War'.

Singh contended that he wasn't paid for the year he spent waiting for the film and for saying no to other projects. Ranveer revealed that he was not compensated for the year he spent preparing for the role. He further argued that it's the nature of the business, at times, films don't get made or are relegated to the back burner for various reasons, and no one gets compensated for it," the report quoted a source saying.
