It would be a mistake to say that fans were looking forward to the release of Don 3 at the theatres ever since the film was announced. Truth be told, the audience was in two minds about seeing Ranveer Singh step into the shoes of Don, a role which has earlier been essayed by Amitabh Bachchan and  Shah Rukh Khan. However, the audience was clearly hooked to all the updates of the movie, including the news of actresses quitting the role. Things, of course, took a turn for the worse when the news of Ranveer quitting the film saw the light of day. Now, as per the latest reports, Farhan Akhtar's Excel Entertainment has demanded compensation of Rs 40 crore from Ranveer.

Ranveer quit the film just before the film was supposed to go on the floors. The film, originally slated to begin shooting in January 2026, had already progressed deep into pre-production. According to sources, Excel Entertainment had invested heavily in script work, scheduling, location scouting, and other groundwork. These financial outlays, along with disruptions caused by the delay, are reportedly being cited as the basis for the compensation claim.

According to a letter accessed by Variety India, the production company has reportedly had to release multiple departments, instructing heads of departments (HODs) to seek alternative assignments beyond the project.

Variety quoted a source mentioning, "Ranveer claims he exited the project because he was unhappy with the script. He repeatedly requested changes and was dissatisfied with the final draft. Excel, on the other hand, maintains that it moved ahead with pre-production only after Singh gave his approval."

It is as per these losses apparently that Farhan's production house, Excel Entertainment, has asked for the compensation from Ranveer Singh. Earlier, there were a lot of claims that Ranveer left the film after the massive success of Aditya Dhar's 'Dhurandhar' and did not see himself fitting in the role of Don anymore. So far, the actor has not publicly acknowledged any of these rumours.

As per reports, Ranveer and Excel Entertainment got together for a two-hour-long meeting on Friday, but came to no resolution. In terms of work, Ranveer has a lot going on with him gearing up for the release of Dhurandhar 2. The film will hit the theatres on March 19.
