Seems like dark clouds are hovering over the Bollywood industry. Just days after gunshots were fired outside superstar director Rohit Shetty's house, actor Ranveer Singh has now become the latest target, reportedly receiving threats via a WhatsApp voice note.

As per reports, the voice message demanded crores of rupees from Ranveer Singh.

According to multiple media outlets, the threatening message was sent to the actor on Tuesday (February 10). Soon after receiving it, the Mumbai Police were informed, and the Crime Branch has taken over the probe. Officials are currently working to trace the sender and ascertain the motive behind the threatening voice note.

Despite the seriousness of the threat, no formal complaint has been lodged by Ranveer Singh or his team so far. The police, however, are continuing their inquiry and monitoring the situation closely. Security outside the actor's residence has been beefed up.

This comes amid Ranveer Singh's industry reports stating that Don 3 has now been stalled after Ranveer decided to exit the franchise following the release and massive success of Dhurandhar. Matters worsened earlier this week when Variety India reported that Farhan Akhtar allegedly demanded Rs 40 crore in damages from Ranveer for walking out of the project just months before it was scheduled to go on floors.

A recent report by Bollywood Hungama has offered detailed insight into what transpired behind closed doors. According to the publication, the fallout led to two closed-door meetings under the auspices of the Producers Guild of India, attended by some of the most influential figures in the film industry. A source was quoted as saying:

Dhurandhar: The revenge poster out: Ranveer Singh's intense first look; Akshaye Khanna's cameo, BTS videos of Ranveer, Arjun Rampal and Sanjay Dutt shooting go viral

The reports mentioned, "From the outset, it was made clear that the intent was not to single out or blame any individual. The discussion revolved around a larger industry issue: what options a filmmaker has after investing substantial money in a film's pre-production when the principal actor exits the project. The stakeholders also examined the issue from the actor's point of view and deliberated on safeguards producers can put in place to prevent such situations in the future."

Work Front

Meanwhile, Ranveer is wrapping up the remaining shoot of Dhurandhar 2, which is slated for release next month. Following that, he is reportedly set to begin filming Pralay, touted as Bollywood's first zombie apocalypse actioner. Farhan will be reviving Jee Le Zaraa, a project announced with Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Katrina Kaif, and Alia Bhatt, which, like Don 3, was unveiled with much promise but has yet to move forward.
