Ram Gopal Varma quits Twitter; RGV's followers now decide to join Instagram

Thousands of fans of filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma aka RGV have decided to create accounts on instagram after he gave them a pleasantly unpleasant surprise by quitting Twitter on Friday (May 26) evening.

Ram Gopal Varma had been making the headlines more for his comments on Twitter rather than his movies. The maverick director courted several controversies through his posts on the micro-blogging site. His followers were more entertained by his weird comments than his films. They were curiously waiting, when he said that he would announce the unpleasant news on at 8.00 pm Friday.

But Varma, who had joined the social media platform on May 27, 2009, disappointed many of them by announcing to quit Twitter, where he had his share of Twitter fights and trolls. The 55-year-old director tweeted: "My pleasantly unpleasant surprise is I am getting out of Twitter...To all my followers, no thanks for following me all these years."

After quitting Twitter, RGV said that he would use photo and video sharing website/app Instagram. He tweeted: "I decided to speak only through pictures and videos on Instagram from now on..." He added: "This my last tweet before my tweet death..but I will not RIP nd seriously work from now on @RGVzoomin Birth:27/5/2009 Death:27/5/2017 (sic)."

But RGV's pleasantly unpleasant surprise has saddened thousands of his Twitter followers, who kept requesting him by writing "Don't leave" and "hope to see back."
