Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar's 2.0, which is doing good business in India and many overseas centres, will release big in China. Lyca Productions is collaborating with HY Media for the Chinese release.
2.0 will have the widest-ever release of an Indian film in China. China has turned out to be a lucrative market for Indian movies in recent years. Films of Aamir Khan have consistently done well there. Dangal is the highest-grossing Indian movie in China where it minted well over Rs 1100 crore.
Secret Superstar, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Hindi Medium are some films which struck a chord with the Chinese audience.
To encourage local content, the Chinese government has restricted the release of foreign movies to 34 films per year, of which almost 90 percent are Hollywood films.
