Action-thriller "Race 2" is inching towards the ₹100 crore mark at the domestic box office. In just nine days, the film collected ₹85.1 crore in India.

The film earned ₹ 76.10 crore in its first week, collecting ₹3.5 crore and ₹ 5.5 crore on Friday and Saturday, respectively. The business declined on the second Friday but picked again the next day.

The Abbas-Mustan-directed action thriller already entered the century club within seven days of its release at the worldwide box office. It collected ₹22.61 crore [$ 4.25 million] from the overseas market and ₹79.6 crore from India, taking the worldwide total to ₹102.21 crore.

With ₹100 crore in its pocket, it has become the first movie of this year to gross ₹100 crore.

Made on a budget of ₹60 crore, the film has collected over ₹80 crore in India and over ₹22 crore at overseas box offices.

After the success of "Race 2", the makers of the film are planning for the third installment of the film. Confirming the news, co-producer of the film Ramesh Taurani of Tips Film said, "I want a 10-day holiday now. It has been a two year long journey to put together RACE 2. But yes, RACE 3 is definitely on. With the sequel doing so well at the box office, it deserves more installments. We have these as a part of our immediate plans."

Produced by UTV Motion Pictures and Ramesh Taurani of Tips Film, the film features an ensemble cast. The film, a sequel to 2008 film "Race", features Saif Ali Khan, Anil Kapoor, John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, Jacqueline Fernandez and Ameesha Patel in lead roles.
