Rang De Basanti is one of those films which have gone down in the history of Bollywood and is rightly now called a cult film. The characters from the film are etched in the memories of a lot of cinephiles, and it is one of those movies that are often revisited by the audience. This Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra coming-of-age political film was released in theatres in 2006 and recently completed 20 years since its release. While a lot of the star cast was present at the 20-year reunion of the film, R Madhavan, who played one of the loved characters in the movie, was not spotted. Fans were wondering why the actor skipped the event, and Madhavan has finally spoken about it.

When the pictures from the reunion surfaced online, netizens reminisced about what a good film it was and showed their love for the actors in the comment section. However, most pointed out how Madhavan was missing from the celebrations and wondered what the reason could be behind it. The actor shared his reason with Hindustan Times recently.

He said, "I was at a shoot abroad when the event took place, and couldn't fly back in time. I really missed it, and I wish I could have been there with all of them to celebrate this iconic film."

Madhavan mentioned that the celebrations were originally meant to happen in January. However, the celebrations had to be postponed after Deputy CM Ajit Pawar died in a plane crash in Baramati, Maharashtra, on January 28.

Madhavan mentioned, "We didn't want to celebrate at that time, naturally. It was a very, very tragic, heartbreaking event."
