Pulimurugan, Thoppil Joppan and Kavi Uddheshichathu..? to lock horns at Kerala box office

After the festival season of Onam, the Malayalam entertainment industry is gearing up to release big budget movies during the nine-day long Navaratri festival, another time considered auspicious by the filmmakers.

The makers of the upcoming Malayalam movie Kavi Uddheshichathu..? (also spelled Kavi Udeshichathu) announced the release date of the Liju Thomas directorial while unveiling the first look posters of the film. The movie, which has been scheduled to hit screens in Kerala on October 7, will now lock horns with big movies at the Kerala box office. 

The date October 7 is sure to witness a big fight at the box office with much anticipated movies of superstar Mohanlal and megastar Mammootty hitting the screens. With the actors enjoying a tremendous fan following in Kerala, their movies are expected to run to housefull shows on the opening day.

Pulimurugan

Among the two biggies, Mohanlal's Pulimurugan has finally got a release date after being postponed many times. This has created much hype among movie-goers. The one-minute-20-second teaser and one-minute 42-second trailer of the Vysakh directorial have also raised the expectations of the audience from the movie. Both the videos have created records by crossing the mark of one million views on the YouTube page of the production house Mulakuppadam Films. The makers even released a 3D animation game, first of its kind in Malayalam movies. 

The movie, in which Mohanlal plays the role of a wild hunter, also stars Kamalini Mukherjee, Jagapati Babu, Namitha, Suraj Venjarumoodu and Bala in significant roles.

Thoppil Joppan

The Johny Antony directorial is the fourth release of Mammootty this year after Puthiya Niyamam, Kasaba and White. The family entertainer has also been creating waves as the megastar will be seen as an achayan (name used to call Christian men), a role Mammootty has aced many times before in movies like Kottayam Kunjachan and Nasrani among others. The actor plays the role of a Kabadi player who lives in Kattappana, and the movie stars Andrea Jeremiah and Mamta Mohandas in female lead roles.

The teaser of Thoppil Joppan featuring Mamta, has already broken the record of Mohanlal's Pulimurugan trailer with more than 1.3 million views within a week of its release. The makers of the Mammootty-starrer have announced that the second teaser of the movie will hit the cyber space on September 23. Meanwhile, the audio launch event of the Mammootty-starrer was held at Avenue Center in Panampilly Nagar, Kochi, on September 21.

Kavi Uddheshichathu..?

Asif Ali, Biju Menon and Narain's Kavi Uddheshichathu..? is the directorial venture of Liju Thomas, who is known for helming short film "Remaniyechiyude Namathil" (In the name of Remaniyechi), which won many accolades. It is the production venture of Asif under his home banner Adam's World of Imagination after the actor's heist-thriller Kohinoor in 2015.
