Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha shut down rumours of not being happy with Sonakshi Sinha – Zaheer Iqbal's inter-faith marriage with their wholehearted presence at the wedding ceremony. While Sonakshi's brothers remained absent from the big day of Sona's life, Shatrughan and Poonam blessed the newlyweds and expressed their happiness at their union.
Sonakshi Sinha, Zaheer Iqbal and Poonam Sinha appeared on Farah Khan's vlog recently where they spoke their courtship period. The Sinha matriarch said that she was oblivious to the relationship for over five years and it was only towards the later two years that she came to know of their relationship.
Convinced Shatrughan Sinha for two years
However, she spent those two years trying to convince Shatrughan Sinha to agree to their union. "I found out about it around two years ago. During those two years, I kept talking to her father and slowly tried to help him understand and accept the relationship," she said. Zaheer then added that Poonam might have had an idea prior to those two years too.
Had an idea
Poonam joked that the 'Dabangg' actress had started taking extra interest in household works, which led to her believing that something was cooking. "I noticed her trying too hard to please us and doing household work just to make us happy. A mother can always sense when something is different," she said.
The families met
The first meeting for both the families was arranged in cahoots with Huma Qureshi at her home. Poonam found Sona seated at the feet of Zaheer's mother making her believe that something was up. "That's when I felt something was definitely brewing," she said.
Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal tied the knot on June 23, 2024. The two opted for a civil ceremony and later threw a grand bash for industry people at Shilpa Shetty's Bastian.
