Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday called on all state governments to take strict action against individuals attempting to exploit the ongoing global energy crisis through black marketing and hoarding of gas cylinders. This comes amid rising incidents of LPG hoarding nationwide, as the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas reported that over 3,500 raids had been conducted, resulting in the seizure of more than 1,200 gas cylinders across states including Bihar, Haryana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh.

Speaking in the Lok Sabha about the ongoing West Asia conflict, PM Modi emphasized the need for vigilance, recalling the unity displayed during the Covid-19 pandemic. "When such crises arise, some elements try to take undue advantage. Therefore, all agencies responsible for law and order have been put on alert. Be it coastal security, border security, cyber security, or strategic installations, security of all is being further strengthened," he said.

He urged state governments to stay alert against fake news and those indulging in hoarding and black marketing. "Strict monitoring is essential. Wherever such complaints arise, swift action must be taken. If every government and citizen moves together, we can overcome every challenge," he added.

Highlighting the broader impact of the West Asia conflict, PM Modi said it poses economic, national security, and humanitarian challenges for India. He noted the region's importance for trade, crude oil, and gas supplies, as well as for the safety of nearly one crore Indians living and working in Gulf countries, along with Indian crew members on commercial ships.

"Since this war began, every Indian in affected countries has been provided assistance. Our missions are continuously engaged in helping workers and tourists, ensuring support for the injured and bereaved families. All possible assistance is being provided," he added.

PM Modi concluded by urging citizens and governments to remain united, alert, and patient in facing the prolonged global crisis, just as the nation did during the Covid-19 pandemic.
