In a moment that drew attention both inside the Parliament premises and across social media, Narendra Modi was seen stepping out of his car and pausing for a brief yet engaged conversation with Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Saturday. The two leaders exchanged a few words in a cordial manner, with visuals showing them standing close and interacting attentively before proceeding with their respective engagements.

The brief interaction stood out amid the often sharp political exchanges between the ruling BJP and the Congress, offering a rare glimpse of informal communication between the Prime Minister and the Leader of Opposition. Those present nearby paused momentarily as the two leaders spoke, making it a notable moment during routine proceedings at the Parliament complex.

The occasion coincided with tributes being paid to Jyotiba Phule on his 200th birth anniversary. Rahul Gandhi, along with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, led the party in honouring the reformer's legacy, highlighting his lifelong struggle for social justice and equality.

"I pay my humble tributes to the great social reformer, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, on his birth anniversary. He dedicated his entire life to safeguarding the rights and entitlements of the Bahujans," Rahul Gandhi said, noting that Phule's fight against discrimination continues to inspire the nation.

Mallikarjun Kharge also paid tribute on social media, recalling Phule's enduring message against injustice and his efforts to challenge caste-based discrimination, social evils, and superstition. He described Phule as a guiding force for equality and women's empowerment.

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra echoed similar sentiments, calling Phule a pioneer of social revolution. She highlighted his contributions to promoting education among women and marginalised communities, stating that his ideals remain a guiding light.

This year's commemoration holds special significance as it marks the 200th birth anniversary of Jyotiba Phule, remembered as a symbol of moral courage, intellectual inquiry, and unwavering commitment to social reform.

Education remained central to Phule's mission. At a time when access to learning was restricted, especially for women and marginalised groups, he took pioneering steps to open schools and promote inclusive education. He believed that true social transformation begins with empowering individuals through knowledge.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had arrived at Prerna Sthal within the Parliament premises to pay floral tributes to Phule. The occasion saw several senior leaders and dignitaries gather to honour his enduring contributions to social justice, education, and social equality.
