As expected, the movie Pihu witnessed a good jump in its box office collection on day 2, while Mohalla Assi failed to register a decent enough show on Saturday.

Two Bollywood movies – Pihu and Mohalla Assi released together this Friday. Although it was expected that the Sunny Deol starrer would earn better than Pihu on the opening day, the latter had won the first-day race convincingly.

While Pihu had collected Rs 45 lakh at the Indian box office on Friday, Mohalla Assi could rake in just Rs 30 lakh. Although neither of the two numbers is big enough to grab attention, Pihu is a clear winner because it had almost recovered its cost of production, which is Rs 50 lakh, on day 1 itself.

With mostly positive reviews from critics and decent word of mouth, Pihu enjoyed much better footfalls at the theatres on Saturday. According to trade sources, the thriller witnessed 60 percent growth in its collection on day 2. It collected Rs 72 lakh at the domestic market on the second day, taking its earning to over Rs 1.15 crore (approximately).

On the other side, Mohalla Assi, which has a big star cast of Sunny, Sakshi Tanwar, Ravi Kishan among others failed to make much improvement in its business even on Saturday. The film's collection still remained below that of Pihu.

The fact that Thugs of Hindostan is gradually fading away from the ticket counters worked in favour of a small film like Pihu. With no other major release and positive word of mouth, Pihu is likely to witness a further rise in its collection on Sunday.

Directed by Vinod Kapri, the film features just three-year-old Myra Vishwakarma in the lead role. Pihu is based on a real-life incident.
