The advance booking of tickets for Pongal releases Petta and Viswasam have started and met with good response from the fans. The tickets, as expected, are in huge demand and the Pongal festive season has given hopes of a positive start at the box office for Kollywood in 2019.
The reservation for tickets was started in Bangalore, Chennai and Kochi on Friday, 4 January, while the full-fledged advance booking for all the versions – Tamil, Telugu and Hindi – will begin from today on Book My Show, Ticket New and Paytm.
In Chennai, over six theatres have opened windows for the online reservation, while the counter bookings will begin later in the day across Chennai for both Viswasam and Petta.
The exhibitors have decided to equally distribute shows for Petta and Viswasam to make the fans of both Rajinikanth and Ajith happy.
In a leading cinema hall Mayajaal, the tickets for the 31 first-day shows of for the Ajith-starrer and 27 shows of for the Rajinikanth's flick have been either completely or almost sold. Looking at the trends, the exhibitors across Tamil Nadu are expected to replace the majority of the presently-playing movies in theatres with the two Pongal releases.
In Bengaluru, there are a handful of theatres which have started the pre-booking for both the films. The advance booking has started in a few centres in Kerala and Hyderabad by the time this story went for publishing.
The early morning shows in Chennai and parts of Tamil Nadu along with Bengaluru will begin at 4 am on 10 January.
Advance Booking (Overseas)
Meanwhile, the advance booking has started in the UAE in leading centres from 10 to 16 January. Vox Cinemas has commenced pre-booking. On the first day, Petta has about 40+ shows, while, Viswasam has 50+ shows across its properties. The numbers are expected to increase closer to the release.
In Qatar, the pre-booking has started for about 40 shows for Petta and 28 shows for Viswasam. Among the other overseas centres, the reservation has started in the US for both Viswasam and Petta.
