
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday cautioned students to remain vigilant while using digital platforms, particularly online gaming applications linked to betting, and stressed the importance of responsible use of social media. Urging young learners to use technology and the internet productively, the Prime Minister warned that easy access should not translate into wasted time.
PM Modi described gaming as a positive activity when approached in the right manner. "Gaming is a skill. The internet and technology are cheap in India nowadays. Don't waste time just because it is easily accessible. Utilise it for your own benefit," he said.

He also highlighted the risks posed by online betting platforms and said the government is taking firm legal measures to curb such activities. Referring to the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025, the Prime Minister noted that the law prohibits all forms of online betting and gambling.
"We should not allow online betting and gambling in games in our country. We have also made a law regarding it," he added.

Reiterating his warning, PM Modi cautioned students against online gaming platforms that involve or promote betting, stating that the government has taken clear and decisive steps to act against such practices.

They say the girls were pressured to give up their fascination with Korean culture and to marry within their own community-something the sisters said they could never accept, according to the news agency.
