"Papanasam" is written and directed by Jeethu Joseph. It is the Tamil remake of Malayalam blockbuster "Drishyam" starring Mohanlal and Meena. Apart from Kamal Haasan and Gauthami, Niveda Thomas, Esther Anil, Kalabhavan Mani, Asha Sarath and others are in the cast.

"Papanasam" has Ghibran's music, Sujith Vaassudev's cinematography and Ayoob Khan's editing.

Story:
Suyambu Lingam (Kamal Haasan) and his wife Rani (Gauthami) with their children played by Niveda Thomas and Esther Anil lead a happy life. Their normal lives hit by an unexpected storm in the form of a son of an IG Geetha Prabhakar (Asha Sarath). His entry changes the course of their lives forever. What happens next is how Lingam tries to save the honour of his family.

Director Jeetu Joseph's "Papanasam" is big lengthier than the original but flawless. It is a complete family entertainer, which keeps the audience on the edge of their seats in the second half of the movie. Kamal shines with his extraordinary performance. Especially, his acting in the climax is top notch. Gauthami's presence adds huge value to the movie with Asha Sharath, Niveda Thomas and Kababhavan Mani doing completing justice to their roles.
