A Palestinian woman stabbed an Israeli man with a knife on Monday, and was shot at by security officers in the Gush Etzion region of the West Bank.

Some reports said the Israeli citizen was a soldier, while some said he was a civilian.

While the Israeli citizen was said to be 'lightly injured', the 20-year-old Palestinian woman suffered serious injuries after security forces opened fire at her, according to The Jerusalem Post.

She is being treated at the Hadassah University Medical Centre. The Israeli man was not hospitalised, as per reports.

"The Palestinian who allegedly tried to stab him was shot, and army and police medical teams were treating her," Yitzhak Shuv, a volunteer medic told Haaretz

The incident is the latest in a series of attacks by Palestinians and Israelis on each other over the last few weeks.

Palestinian militants had attacked a Jerusalem synagogue last month, leaving five dead.
