Accounts opened under the scheme stood at 10.08 crore as on 26 December 2014.

Over seven crore RuPay cards have been issued by banks, with the banks agreeing to complete card issuance and Regional Rural Bank account opening by 15 January 2015.

Anurag Jain, Joint Secretary (FI) and Mission Director of PMJDY, has reportedly asked the banks to complete pass-book issuance for all account holders.

Banks and the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) have been asked to make available required forms for settling life insurance claims easily available, with the LIC asked to settle claims within 15 days from the date of claim receipt, provided paperwork were in order.

The banks expressed confidence on meeting the deadline, barring certain areas in higher altitudes and those affected by migration.
