Fans of Starz's Outlander have a long wait ahead for them before Season 3 is aired. But the cast and crew of the show have been keeping fans updated with snippets from production set, and it was recently revealed that filming for the first four episodes are over.

Warning: This post contains spoilers from Season 3 of Outlander, which is based on Diana Gabaldon's Voyager, the third book in the Outlander series.

The third season will begin with the Battle of Culloden, and we'll also see how Caitriona Balfe's Claire's relationship with her husband Frank is strained following her return to her own timeline and revealing that she's pregnant with Jamie's (Sam Heughan) child.

As for Jamie, he will survive the Battle of Culloden and will even go on to have other relationships and he will even father a child. This is expected to cause a strain in his life with Claire when the duo finally reunites. Their reunion is one of the highlights of Gabaldon's Voyager, but it looks like the television adaptation will tweak the setting a bit.

Meanwhile, the third season will see a lot of action onboard a ship, something executive producer Ron Moore is looking forward to.

"The first two seasons of Outlander were really different from one another, and the third season is really different yet again," Moore was quoted as saying by Vanity Fair. "There's more 20th-century stuff . . . more stuff in Scotland. There's a big sea voyage in that book, which I'm really excited about, and it ends up in the Caribbean, in Jamaica. It's like a whole different show once again."

Outlander will return to Starz in April 2017.
