OnePlus 2 gets an important updateIBTimes India/ Anirban Roy

OnePlus has finally launched the 16GB variant of its flagship smartphone, OnePlus 2, in India. The low storage variant of the successful flagship smartphone is available exclusively on Amazon.in, OnePlus' official sales partner in India, for a slightly lower price tag of Rs 22,999.

OnePlus 2 was launched in July last year and the company offered only the 64GB variant in India at the time. While the existing variant offered great value for money, some were interested in the cheaper 16GB OnePlus 2 smartphone. OnePlus had promised to launch the 16GB variant in India end of 2015, but missed the deadline.

It's worth noting that OnePlus 2 16GB is available without invites, just like the 64GB model. The company dropped the necessity for an invite to purchase OnePlus 2 last month.

The price for OnePlus 2 16GB is not quite appealing. For a bargain of Rs 2,000, OnePlus 2 16GB not only trims the storage but also lowers the RAM capacity from 4GB to 3GB, which is essential for multi-tasking. Since OnePlus 2 does not support microSD card, users may find it difficult to adjust with the limited 16GB storage on OnePlus 2, which supports 4K video recording and high-resolution photos.

In our review, we found the OnePlus 2 to be worthy of its price, excellent design, great camera, lasting battery and flagship level performance. The 64GB offering with 4GB RAM is a boon and it is wise to spend the extra amount instead of settling for a low storage, cheaper variant of OnePlus 2.

Other specifications of the OnePlus 2 remain unchanged. It is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 810 chipset, Adreno 430 GPU for graphics, dual SIM 4G LTE support and USB Type-C port. OnePlus 2 has a 5.5-inch Full-HD display, 13MP primary camera with laser AF, f/2.0 aperture, OIS, dual-LED flash and 5MP front snapper. The handset runs on a 3,300mAh battery and secures the phone with fingerprint scanner. OnePlus 2 runs on the company's custom Oxygen OS 2.2 based on Android Lollipop.
