Odiyan hit by piracy.Twitter

Mohanlal's much-hyped Odiyan is the latest victim of piracy. The movie with different qualities has made it to torrent sites through backdoors which are expected to take a toll on its collection at the box office.

Mohanlal's much-hyped Odiyan has opened to mixed reviews from the critics and audience. Once the negative comments started coming on social media sites on the release day, the fans of the actor made strange allegations on Vijay fans.

They said that Vijay fans were bad-mouthing Odiyan following VA Shrikumar Menon's recent comment where he said that the Malayalam audience accepts when people say Thalapathy's movie grossed Rs 100 crore, but question when Lalettan's film achieve such feat.

Odiyan, which has Manju Warrier and Prakash Raj in prominent roles, is a fantasy drama. The makers were hoping the movie would set the box office on fire. With the film being leaked online, it has to be seen how it will perform in the days to come.

Every film made in Kollywood these days is being made available on torrent sites within a matter of days. Big movies hit the web faster than small-budget films as the craze around such flicks is high.

Vijay's Sarkar, Rajinikanth's 2.0 and all the big movies hit the internet within a matter of hours after its release.

Piracy has been looming large over not only Kollywood but also other film industries across the world. Though many strict measures and policies have been implemented by governments, none of them has been successful in curbing the menace.

Under the leadership of Vishal, President of Tamil Film Producers' Council and Secretary of Nadigar Sangam, the anti-piracy cell in Kollywood has taken proactive measures and has brought down many websites and domains of notorious Tamil Rockers, yet the piracy has continued to exist.
