With all new revolutionary camera technology Finnish phone maker Nokia is all set to launch "PureView 808" in India on June 6, merely a week after the much-awaited Samsung's flagship phone Galaxy S3 went on sale in the country.

The PureView is the result of many years of research and development and the tangible fruits of this work are amazing image quality, lossless zoom, and superior low light performance, says Nokia.

At a time when everyone is talking about the next generation specifications in smartphones, Nokia is pinning all its hope on their PureView phone, with limited features and specs, except a whopping 41-megapixel camera, that may not lure huge number of potential buyers.

To compare PureView 808, in terms of the specifications, with any other smartphones in the market makes no sense since Nokia doesn't promise any greater specs in the smartphone.

The company's unique selling point of this phone is a pro camera technology integrated in a smartphone, one of its kinds, taking a leap forward in terms of camera performance in smartphones, which has not been attempted by any other phone manufacturers.

This would mean that Nokia PureView 808 will be out in the market without any strong competition, as far as camera technology is concerned. But the surprising camera technology alone may not be quite enough to trump the high-end phone competition.

There are already several phones lying out in the market with more specifications than PureView 808, including a decent camera, which would serve the purpose of a normal user. Moreover, the pricing of the PureView 808, which is single core processor, is also expected to be higher than any smartphones with dual core processor.

Earlier, Nokia refuted speculations regarding the pricing that the PureView 808 would be priced at Rs 29, 999 in India. The new entrant may be priced higher than Rs 30,000 mark or lesser.

PureView's limited specifications with its likely higher price tag may not work in its favour and could affect its sale in India, when it goes out in the market competing against the phones with lesser camera pixels but greater specification like Galaxy S3.

The smartphone boasting a lofty camera is not all that needed to run a good business. Do you agree?
