No formal police complaint was registered in connection with the incident, according to reports.
Police, mall management clarify viral claims
While the viral video led to claims that the woman had been caught stealing, subsequent reports raised questions over the circumstances of the incident.
According to The Times of India, both police and mall management said the woman had paid for the items and that theft had not been confirmed.

A report by Dainik Jagran also said police found that the store staff could not provide CCTV footage showing the woman stealing. The woman reportedly claimed that the items had been paid for by the man accompanying her.
The differing accounts have added another layer to the viral incident, with the social media narrative presenting it as a theft while police and mall officials have indicated that no confirmed theft case was established.
The video has nevertheless triggered widespread discussion online, with users debating the circumstances surrounding the incident and questioning how quickly allegations can spread through social media before official details are established.
